Ferry & Passenger Vessel Operations

Be ready
for emergencies at sea.

Virtual Marine helps ferry and cruise operators improve crew preparedness and maritime safety through realistic, flexible simulation-based training. Our solutions support training in lifeboat operations, fast rescue boats, davit launch systems, and marine evacuation systems, allowing crews to practise critical procedures without the risks and logistical demands of live exercises. With mobile and adaptable training options, operators can deliver consistent training across their fleets, strengthen emergency response capabilities, and build crew confidence.

Virtual Marine partnered with BC Ferries to develop 12 mobile simulation training units designed to improve crew safety and preparedness for rescue boat operations, davit launch systems, and marine evacuation systems (MES). Each trailer combines a full-mission rescue boat simulator with launch and recovery controls, an integrated hook trainer, and realistic coastal environments, allowing crews to practise critical procedures in a range of weather conditions without the risks of live launches. The project also introduced what was believed to be the world’s first marine evacuation system simulator, enabling realistic training on chute and slide systems and bringing flexible, consistent training directly to BC Ferries terminals across the province.

WHAT CUSTOMERS ARE SAYING

“Our objective was to improve the safety and competency of our workers in what can be a very challenging and stressful environment. The risk of injury resulting from live boat launches was something we knew we had to change and so our focus with this initiative was to improve maritime safety while maintaining our compliance with regulatory standards.”
