Refresher Training Course in Proficiency in Fast Rescue Boats (STCW) (FRB-R)
OBJECTIVE
The aim of the course is to enable seafarers to demonstrate continued proficiency in the operation of Fast Rescue Boats/Craft in accordance with STCW Section A-VI/2, paragraph 11. This course meets the requirements of Transport Canada’s REF-FRC.

Simulation-Based Practical Training Exercises
- Perform Pre-Launch and Pre-Recovery Checks 
- Operate a Launching Davit and Manage a Painter 
- Launch and Recover a FRB from a Vessel 
- Steer visually and by Compass 
- Execute a Search Pattern 
- Recover a Person-in-Water 
- Tow Liferafts and other Vessels 
- Pace another Vessel 
- Operate under a Helicopter 
- Emergency Radio Communications 
DURATION:
- 6 ½ hours / per candidate 
- 3 ½ hours of lecture 
- 2 ½ hours of simulation exercises / per candidate 
- ½ hour in-water pool session 
TRAINING LOCATION: Canada - 47 Bremigen’s Blvd, Paradise, NL
VALIDITY: Five (5) Years
This is a Transport Canada approved course.
