ACT: Advanced Coxswain Training Program

OBJECTIVE

To augment on board drills and exercising program to maintain competence and confidence of coxswain, which supports compliance with the following:

  • MODU Code MSC.1/Circ.1486 Alternate Compliance Program

  • SOLAS MSC.1/Circ.1578 Additional Special Drills

  • Sub Paragraph 8.2 of the ISM Code

CONTENT

  • Safety principles

  • Pre-launch preparation and procedures

  • Launching and recovery

  • Maneuvering FRB in various conditions

  • SAR patterns

The simulation- based practical training exercises included are as follows:

  • Survival Craft handling, including launching and recovery

  • Survival Craft maneuvering in various sea states and swell conditions

  • Pacing and towing with other survival craft, including FRB

  • Search and Rescue patterns, including PIW rescue

DURATION

  • Self-paced; approximately 4 hours combined lecture and practical exercises

VALIDITY

  • 2.5 years
