STCW REF-FRB Refresher Training Course

OBJECTIVE

The aim of the course is to refresh the seafarers’ skills in the operation of Fast Rescue Boats/Craft augmented with FRB Simulator recognized and approved by Transport Canada

Comply with Chapter VI, Section A-VI/2, paragraph 11 of the STCW Convention requirement to show evidence that standard competence to undertake the tasks, duties, and responsibilities listed in column 1 of table A-VI/2-2 of the Convention, including the 2010 Manilla Amendments are maintained every 5 years.

  • Pre-launch preparation and procedures

  • Launching and recovery

  • Maneuvering FRB in various conditions

  • SAR patterns

  • Capsize and Recovery

Our simulation-based practical training exercises include:

  • FRB handling, including launching and recovery

  • FRB maneuvering in various sea states and conditions, including high speed and low speed

  • Pacing and towing with other craft, including other survival craft

  • FRB capsize and righting

  • Search and Rescue, including PIW recovery

DURATION

  • 4 hours of lecture

  • 3 hours of simulation exercises

  • 2 hours of practical exercises + exam
